Making the culture-purpose-strategy connection and restoring trust in business

In our sixteenth ‘Luminous Spotlight' podcast, Kay Kayachith and Maureen Beresford, Head of Governance at the Financial Reporting Council (FRC), discuss how the corporate reporting landscape is evolving, explore the role of culture in safeguarding a company’s success, and dig deeper into the upcoming audit and corporate governance reforms.

Maureen is the Head of Corporate Governance at the FRC, responsible for leading on the UK Corporate Governance Code and the Wates Principles. In this episode, Maureen and Kay discuss how companies can balance the tension in meeting the requirements of rules, regulations and the Code while keeping the page count down in the annual report, as well as providing insights into how companies can better connect values, culture and purpose with strategy in their communications.

We also hear about what the FRC has observed and recommends in terms of capturing and reporting on company culture, ESG data, climate change and wider stakeholder engagement.

Finally, Kay and Maureen provide helpful tips on what companies can do now to prepare for the upcoming audit and corporate governance changes.
