Our report for Berkeley Group won Best Annual Report for large cap organisations, while Britvic won the Best Annual Report in the mid cap category. The judges added the following comments:
Berkeley Group: ‘Congratulations to this year’s winner, Berkeley Group who produced a well-designed and clear annual report which also demonstrated strong leadership linked with purpose and culture. The judges noted a strong focus on value creation for shareholders throughout the report.
Judges highlighted the report showed good evidence of the competition, and they liked the ESG indicators which were well displayed on pages 76/77. They noted the report gave a good description of risks, although there was no mention of cladding, which they felt could have been mentioned. Overall, judges scored this very highly - a well designed report that was easy to navigate.’
Britvic: ‘The report was clean to read with a good flow that provided judges with a clear sense of the investment proposition and reassurance that management is thinking holistically about all stakeholder groups. One area for improvement would be management remuneration which looks very traditional in its reporting. How is purpose and ESG woven into the criteria. Single use plastics are a real issue and although the company is reducing plastic weight, it would be great to know if there were plans for alternative packaging forms. Very pleasing design - to be commended. Graphics were complimentary and didn't dominate, so well judged.
A well laid out report and they understand the markets they are operating in. A good 172 statement and description of risks and opportunities. Judges found the ESG narrative clear and compelling.
